About Whisky Party

Whisky Party is a project of Mike, Mike, and Dan. We’re doing our small part to introduce the joys of whisk(e)y drinking to a younger audience, and share our drinking and brewing experiences with the internets.

What You Will Find Here:

  • Reviews of affordable/”best buy” bottles of Scotch and other whiskies.
  • Photos and opinions of what we’re drinking - beer, bourbon, scotch and rye.
  • Reports from the field: Tales of encounters with whisk(e)y and beer, from around the block to around the globe.
  • Reviews of local tastings and our favorite bars in Chicago, NYC, San Francisco and Washington D.C.

Welcome to the party.

Mike C. (Whisky Party) lives in Washington DC and works in digital media. His taste profile favors Islay/Island whisky and he has a growing interest in the American micro-distilling movement and how whisky brands and distilleries operate online. He’s a homebrewer and his favorite beers tend to be imperial IPAs, porters and dark weizens.

For inquiries related to the New York City or DC area, send an email to Mike C. at uisgeparty [at] gmail [dot] com.

Mike F. (DodgyDrammer), when he’s not abroad excavating, can be found at bars throughout the South Loop, where he lives, and all across Chicago, studiously writing his dissertation on Near Eastern Archaeology. He enjoys the robust flavours of heavily peated, heavily sherried, non-chillfiltered, and cask-strength Scotches as well as crisp ryes and bold, rye-heavy bourbons. He’s currently preparing a class at his university for next quarter entitled “Drinks and Drinking Cultures in the Ancient Near East,” which will focus on the origins of alcohol and its usage in early societies.

Dan (StrongLikeCask) calls the Bay Area home and makes his living as a suit. He likes sharing drams with friends and can be found playing liars dice at various dives while trying to figure out how much of his income he can give to liquor stores. He’s fascinated by the business of whisky and likes complex drams with long finishes, appreciating spice, sweet, smoke, and peat. Dan is currently 1) working on refining his palate, 2) figuring out how to display more whisky in his apartment, and 3) determining how to combine his passion for whisky with a career.

Whisky Party bloggers occasionally accept free samples for review. Should we decide to review a product after accepting a free sample, we will always disclose that relationship to our readers.
